R&D project manager with expertise in chemical reactor engineering, materials science and computational process simulation.
Research interests: intensified chemical reactors for the energy-efficient use of resources and waste valorisation.
Current EU (Horizon Europe) projects:
- PLASTICE: Energy-efficient technologies for unsortable plastics valorization.
Role: design, simulation and testing of microwave reactors for the pyrolysis of unsortable polymers and bio-oil upgrade.
- POLYNSPIRE: Alternative plastics recycling strategies for a more sustainable plastics value chain.
Role: design and testing of microwave-assisted reactors for the chemical recycling of polyamides and polyurethane.
- SHIP2FAIR: Assessment on the implementation of Solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP) solutions in the agrofood and beverage sector.
Role: simulation of SHIP configurations to optimize the solar thermal energy integration in the industrial processses and quantification of the energy coverage and fuel & CO2 reduction.
- CORALIS: Demonstration project for the generation of real experiences on the deployment of Industrial symbiosis (IS) solutions.
Role: techno- and thermo-economic assessment of IS solutions adopted by demo-sites.
Former EU projects:
-ADREM (2020): Development of adaptable, resource- and energy-efficient reactor systems for methane valorisation.
Role: Design, simulation and testing of gas-solid catalytic reactors for natural gas dehydroaromatization at lab and pilot scale, including catalysts synthesis and characterization.
-HECTOR (2016): Development of gas-solid contactors with selective materials heating provided by microwave-irradiation.
Role: exploring fields of application of microwave-assisted heating in the frame of chemical reaction engineering, such as: heterogeneous gas-phase catalysis, adsorptive reactions, polluted atmospheres cleaning and nanomaterials synthesis.
