Founding Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department at Rowan University as part of the start-up engineering program enabled by the Henry & Betty M. Rowan endowment. Assembled a faculty team of eight, designed facilities/laboratories and the curriculum for an innovative program whose hallmarks include an 8-semester Engineering Clinic sequence and pervasive laboratory complement to coursework. ABET accreditation received on first application in both Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering elements of the single-degree track ECE Program. Program objectives build on core ECE content to also include communication skills, multidisciplinary team work, and entrepreneurship. Graduates recognized for their unique ability to rapidly tackle new problems and develop solutions. Over 35% of graduates have continued on to graduate studies
IEEE P21451-1 WG Chair
Provided technical contributions and leadership to the ISHM development group at John C. Stennis Space Center beginning with research collaborations on smart/intelligent sensors from the university environment and culminating in a 3-year IPA assignment to Stennis. Extended suite of ISHM technologies to primary application to monitoring of rocket engine test stands, and to center-wide emergency monitoring system. Proposed and led the development of a smart and intelligent sensor payload (SiSP) in support of the Max launch abort system (MLAS) demonstration vehicle project by NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC)
