个人简介
She works across several physical and mental health long-term conditions with diabetes and diabetes distress being a particular focus, and she co-leads the Faculty's Clinical Diabetes Research Group.
Jackie's work involves the development and evaluation of interventions to support long-term condition self-management. These address three commonplace gaps:
The knowledge and skills of individuals.
The emotional needs and well-being of individuals.
The organisation of healthcare services to support self-care.
Jackie held an NIHR post-doctoral fellowship at Warwick Medical School from 2004-2008 and a clinical secondment in the NHS from 2010-2012, to develop novel services supporting patients in self-management for people struggling to cope with their diabetes.
In supporting the organisation of services, both in the UK and internationally, she has investigated the role of remote consulting for providing timely access to care. Remote consulting via digital, telephone and mobile health rises to prominence in epidemics and pandemics.
She undertakes work in LMIC to support training and research around remote consulting as an opportunity for increasing access to, and quality of, healthcare. She also researches online delivery of interventions in PTSD, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis in the UK and Australia, and she welcomes post-graduate research students in these areas.
