个人简介
Dr. Pineda's research is focused on the relationship between brain and behavior. For the most part, this has taken the form of functionally mapping well-circumscribed neuroanatomical and neurotransmitter systems to behavior, namely those involved in control, adaptation, and regulation. More specifically, this interest has been expressed in trying to understand functional and dysfunctional cognitive networks, including those related to attention, motivation, decision-making, working memory, face processing, context-dependent actions, and social behaviors in general. During the last 10 years, the focus has turned to the interactions between neural processes that underlie perception-action systems and mirroring processes within the context of social cognition. Four major subthemes have permeated the research throughout: 1) mapping and understanding mind-brain interactions; 2) understanding behavior as the complex interaction between multiple neural systems; 3) the need to understand different levels of processing; and 4) the need to translate basic research into applied work.
