I earned my PhD at the University of Connecticut, USA, specializing in global seismology. My work there led to the discovery of a new structural configuration in the Earth's solid inner core that favours a hypothesis, in which the inner core growth is coupled to thermal heterogeneities near the core-mantle boundary by convection in the liquid outer core.

Following my PhD work, I worked on topics related to crustal imaging, intraplate earthquake physics, and deep Earth imaging in Europe at the Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, Portugal, University College London, UK, and the University of Muenster, Germany. At present, I am a Research Fellow in the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne, where I am leading seismology research to better understand seismicity in Australia with an emphasis on Gippsland and designing seismic monitoring networks. Our work is critical for prospective Carbon sequestration projects.
