个人简介
I have an international reputation in the study of Bronze Age Britain and Ireland. I am particularly interested in the treatment of the human body and concepts of the self; the social role of objects; and the relationship between space and society including domestic architecture and the organisation of landscape. I have recently published a single-authored monograph on the Bronze Age (Personifying prehistory: relational ontologies in Bronze Age Britain and Ireland, 2019) with Oxford University Press. I have secured major research grants including successes as Principal Investigator with "The social context of technology: non-ferrous metalworking in later prehistoric Britain and Ireland" (Leverhulme Trust) and "The Power of Relics: Curating Human Bone in the British Bronze Age" (Gerda Henkel Foundation). In addition, I have a developing profile in historical archaeology. I co-edited the volume Making 1916: material and visual culture of the Easter Rising (Liverpool University Press, 2015) and I am currently co-directing a programme of archaeological survey and excavation at Frongoch in North Wales, the site of the camp where 1700 Irishmen were interned in the aftermath of the Easter Rising. I am editor of Archaeological Dialogues, an international journal published by Cambridge University Press, and I am Vice President of the Prehistoric Society. I am committed to active knowledge exchange with non-academic partners: I co-organise bi-annual conferences of the Bronze Age Forum, attended by archaeologists working in museums, national heritage organisations, local government and archaeological consultancies as well as in academia.
