个人简介
Professor of Petroleum Geoscience, Head of the Petroleum Geoscience and Basin Studies and Director of the Petroleum Geoscience Mscs run within SEES at the University of Manchester. Director of the North Africa Research Group, funded by a consortium of international oil companies. For details of North Africa Research Group go to http://narg.org.uk
Background: I graduated from Chelsea College, University of London with a BSc (Hons) in Geology and joined Fina as a geologist working on North Sea exploration. After 3 years I undertook a PhD at Bristol University on the Sedimentology of the Glaciogenic Permo-Carboniferous Grant Group of the Canning Basin, Western Australia. After completing my PhD. I returned to the oil industry for 10 years with Fina and later Amerada Hess, working in the UK, North Africa and S.E Asia. Working in exploration in international new ventures globally. Since 1998 I have been an academic (initially at Oxford Brookes University and since 2004 at the University of Manchester). I continue to have close links to the oil industry, supervising funded PhDs, running the leading North Africa Reserach Group and as a consultant working with leading companies on a variety of projects.i
I am a Fellow of the Geological Society (FGS), and a member of the AAPG, PESGB, IAS and EAGE, I am also on the editorial board of the AAPG Bulletin and the Journal of Petroleum Geology
Research: I founded the North Africa Research Group: established to undertake broad basin analysis projects in North Africa (http://www.narg.org.uk/).
Research interests:
My research interests cover a broad spectrum from applied clastic sedimentology (fluvial and glacial), petroleum system analysis, regional geology and basin modeling.
North African and S.E Asian Regional Geology
Petroleum Systems
Basin Analysis and Geochemical Modelling
Sedimentology:
- continental clastic systems, Triassic systems across North Africa
- ancient glacial sediments, Ordovician and Permo-Carboniferous systems, characterization of reservoir / source potential.
- deepwater slope depositional systems
