Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) PhD Student Jonathan Morgan has received a Summer Research Fellowship from the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that runs the online encyclopedia Wikipedia and its sister projects. Jonathan will join an interdisciplinary team of social and computer scientists in San Francisco for a summer-long investigation of the sociotechnical phenomena at play in the Wikipedia editor community.

The purpose of the fellowship is to bring teams of academic researchers to explore many hypotheses regarding the gradual decline in the Wikipedia active editor base, and to develop new practical tools for researchers and community members. The project is part of the Wikimedia Foundation's "Summer of Research."
