PAPS synthases have been the group’s research focus for many years. Ground-breaking work was the first biophysical characterisation of these enzymes (JBC 2012; 287(21): 17645-55) that identified PAPSS2 as marginally stable protein. Jon has reviewed recent concepts of protein stability in light of these findings (Front Mol Biosci. 2019; 6:31). It will be exciting to see how stability and other biophysical properties of this important protein differ, when studied within the living cell compared to when using recombinant protein.
