Joon Lee (M'11) received the B.A.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, and the Ph.D. degree from the Biomedical Group, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory for Computational Physiology, Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He also holds a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. His research interests include the domains of medical informatics, biomedical signal processing, machine learning, pattern recognition, and data mining, with a motivation to make the current healthcare system more efficient and cost-effective. His current main research focus is on the National Institutes of Heath-funded research program “Integrating Data, Models, and Reasoning in Critical Care.” His research activities range from retrospective clinical studies to development of automated clinical decision support algorithms.
