He also was later a research fellow of the Spanish Ministry of Education (June 2002 – May 2004) at the research Group of Prof. R. Lobinski at the French National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS, Pau). This stay was focused on the use of multidimensional HPLC based methods followed by ICP MS, MALDI and ESI detection for selenoproteomics. He also actively collaborated on the development of micro and nanoHPLC couplings to ICP MS. From June to September 2004 he was contracted by the CNRS as visiting scientist. From 2004-2009, he was awarded as “Ramon y Cajal” scientist of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology at the University of Oviedo. Since 2010, he is Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry (permanent) at the Dept. of Physical and Analytical Chemistry of the University of Oviedo (Spain)
He launched and was Coordinator of the Master in Analytical and Bioanalytical Sciences (University of Oviedo) from 2009 to 2017. From January 2017 he is secretary of the Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry of the University of Oviedo
His research interests include:
• Absolute quantification of organic compounds by MS without the need for specific standards.
• Identification-quantification of proteins and phosphoproteins by LC coupled to ICP-MS and ESI-MS.
• Isotopically labeled species for method validation in speciation and proteomics.
• Characterization and bioanalytical application of nanoparticles using multidisciplinary approaches.
