José L. Ayala received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain, in 2001 and 2005, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Architecture and Automation, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Madrid, Spain, where he is also with DACYA. He is also an Associate Member of the Center for Computational Simulation, UPM. He has served as a TPC Member of many conferences, including DATE, DAC, VLSI-SoC, and ICCAD. He has lead a large number of international research projects and bilateral projects with industry, in the fields of power and energy optimization of embedded systems, and noninvasive health monitoring. His research interests include thermal and energy-aware design and management of processor-based systems, design of embedded processors, thermal estimation, 3D integration, health monitoring, and wireless sensor networks. He is a member of the HiPEAC European Network of Excellence and ACM. He has organized several international events as a General Chair and a Program Chair, such as VLSISoC, GLSVLSI, and PATMOS.
