个人简介
My work involves design of inhibitors for treatment of fungal infections in immunocompromised individuals such as HIV/AIDS patients, cancer chemotherapy patients, and organ transplant recipients under medication of immunosuppressants. In all living organisms purine metabolic pathway is essential for the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and guanosine triphosphate (GTP) nucleotides. Rapidly proliferating cells has to depend on de novo purine biosynthetic pathway for continuous and plentiful supply of guanine and adenine nucleotides for division, growth and survival. The aim of my studies is to design inhibitors that can target enzymes in de novo pathway and thereby selectively inhibiting the growth of fungal cells for the treatment of fungal infections in human.
