Currently, I am Co-Founder and CTO of Bento Labs where we are working on mobile search. Previously, I was the 4th engineer at RelateIQ where I led the Data Products Engineering team that built data products that mine and deliver relationship intelligence within our app; for example, automated suggestions to follow-up with contacts. The techniques I used included various kinds of unsupervised analysis, natural language processing, some supervised learning, and lots and lots of hacks. Before RelateIQ, I was a Senior Research Scientist at Yahoo! Research. There the common theme in all my work was the analysis of “Big data” to improve systems like web search, computational advertising, behavioral targeting, online abuse prevention, and to mine insights to drive business decisions. My academic background broadly is Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Algorithms and I got my PhD at Univ of Texas - Austin. A partial list of my academic work can be found at http://www.ideal.ece.utexas.edu/~kunal/work.html
