Our laboratory seeks to illuminate functional organization and information processing in the visual thalamic circuits, and to understand how distinct streams of inputs are integrated and transformed to impact visual behavior. We are also interested to identify and understand biophysical and circuit motifs that are utilized for neural computation. Our study will provide insight into how subcortical visual areas selectively transmit and regulate visual information and contribute to visual perception.
We use interdisciplinary approaches, including in vivo and in vitro optical imaging methods, in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, along with genetic-based, circuit-specific tracing/manipulation methods to examine neural computation in visual circuit.
