Bio
Lonnie J. Love (M'93) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, in 1988 and 1990, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, in 1995.
Since 1995, he has been on the research staff of the Robotics and Energetic Systems Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN. His primary research interests focus on design, control and application of novel actuation systems. Examples include magnetic fluid devices (magnetorheological and ferrofluid systems), electrohydraulic systems, and fluid cooled electric machines. Applications have focused on the design and control of novel man-machine interfaces such as strength amplifying machines and micro- and nano-telemanipulation devices.
