Luciano has +8 years of experience in research on developing and applying intelligent techniques to robotics, machine learning, optimization, and automation.
Luciano’s interdisciplinary research focuses on the development of practical methods to keep AI under meaningful human control. He develops hybrid AI methods that combine machine learning and symbolic approaches, incorporating ethical and human behavior theories to AI. Considering AI agents within sociotechnical systems, Luciano aspires to (1) elicit and align to human values norms and (2) incorporate ethical principles, while (3) using an interactive perspective for human control and responsibility, and (4) incorporating emergent societal norms.
