Maria Vinaixa

I graduated in Chemistry from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (2002) and I earned my PhD in Electronic Engineering from the same university (2008). My postdoctoral period was saddle between Yanes Lab and the Metabolomics Platform (2008-2015). Subsequently I moved to the SYNBIOCHEM Centre at The University of Manchester where I lead on Metabolomics and Metabolomics Data Analysis for Synthetic Biology (2016-2018). After two-years maternity secondment I returned to work to Universitat Rovira i Virgili where I am currently leading MIL@b group and I have an associate professor position. My research has been devoted to advance Metabolomics technologies with special emphasis on Computational Metabolomics. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, my career has been structured around two main research directions: (i) Development of new computational tools, technologies, concepts and paradigms to drive metabolomics to a functional genomics tool; (ii) Application of metabolomics in combination with other -omic sciences for the study of fundamental biological processes in health and disease (particularly diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer).
