I am a senior researcher at NEC Labs in Heidelberg. From 2012-2015 I was a research associate at the University of Washington, Seattle. From 2009-2012 I was also a member of the Data and Web Science Research Group at the University of Mannheim. My co-authors and I were fortunate enough to win awards at international conferences such as UAI, IJCNLP, and ESWC. I was the principle investigator of a Google faculty research award and a bilateral DFG-NEH research award. My research interests include tractable machine learning, probabilistic graphical models, statistical relational learning, digital libraries and, more broadly, the large-scale extraction, integration, and analysis of structured data. I am also co-founder of several open-source digital humanities projects such as the Indiana Philosophy Ontology Project and the Linked Humanities Project.
