Mathieu Pernice

I completed my PhD on Bacterial symbioses in Nautiloids at the University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris (2006). This was followed by a one year Teaching and Researching position on “Phylogenetic and functional aspects of bacterial symbioses in Cephalopods” at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris (2007-2008). In 2008, I was awarded a 3 years Marie Curie outgoing postdoctoral fellowship to work with Pr Ove Hoegh-Guldberg on coral bleaching, and more particularly the molecular mecanisms driving the breakdown of coral-dinoflagellate symbiosis, in the Coral Reef Ecosystems Lab (University of Queensland, Australia). I then integrated the Laboratory for Biological Geochemistry (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland) in January 2012, as a postdoctoral research fellow working with Pr Anders Meibom on the metabolic function of cnidaria-dinoflagellate symbioses. Since 2014, I have been based at the University of Technology Sydney, where I am currently Deputy Director of the Climate Change Cluster (C3) and co-lead two research teams in Algal Biotechnology and Seagrass.
