个人简介
Dr. Hatch received her DMD from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1999. She received her orthodontic certificate in 2002 and a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology in 2005, both from University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Hatch then completed three years of post-doctoral training in the University of Michigan’s Tissue Engineering and Regeneration program. She subsequently became full time faculty and was promoted to tenured Associate Professor of Dentistry at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry in 2015. Dr. Hatch is certified by the American Board of Orthodontists. She treats patients on Thursday mornings within the University of Michigan Orthodontic Dental Faculty Associates practice. Her practice philosophy is patient centered. Her treatment planning decisions are guided by both the dentition and facial esthetics. Dr. Hatch serves as a didactic and clinical instructor for dental students and orthodontic residents. She also serves as Research Director for the Orthodontic Division to guide orthodontic residents as they work towards their M.S. and/or Ph.D. degrees. She has mentored numerous orthodontic residents on their research, four of whom have won research awards from the American Association of Orthodontists. She also mentors dental and graduate students. Dr. Hatch’s research interests include basic and translational research in bone biology and the molecular etiology of craniofacial anomalies, as well as the development of biologic mediators of orthodontic tooth movement and retention. Dr. Hatch has received multiple awards for her research including the 2007 American and International Associations for Dental Research 1st Place Hatton Award, the 2008 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Harold M. Frost Young Investigator Award, the 2010 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research John Hadded Young Investigator Award, and the 2012 American Association of Orthodontists Foundation Dewel Award. She has served on the executive committee and as president of the International Association for Dental Research’s Craniofacial Biology Group (2009-2016), as the Great Lakes representative to the American Association of Orthodontists Council on Scientific Affairs (2009-2015), and as a board member of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research’s Advances in Mineral Metabolism Meeting (2015-2017). Her research has been funded by the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, the Hartwell Foundation, the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIH/NIDCR) and Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. She holds a patent on a Tissue Nonspecific Alkaline Phosphatase as a biomedical treatment approach for craniosynostosis.
