My research on data analytics and information security/privacy has been supported by NSF, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Qatar Foundation. My work has received several awards, including the NSF CAREER award in 2008; the ACM SIGMOD Research Highlight Award in 2019; the Best Paper Awards from the Consumer 360° Track of the 2019 American Marketing Association Summer Academic Conference, the Communication and Information Systems Security Symposium of the 2013 IEEE International Conference on Communications, and the 2010 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Architecture, and Storage; the Best Student Paper Award from 2013 ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management; and the Best Paper Nominations from the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Intelligence and Security Informatics and the 2018 and 2019 Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences. My work on technology transfer was also recognized by the GW Technology Transfer Innovation Price and the first place finish at the GW Business Plan Competition, both in 2012.
