Dr. Breslau is a highly cited psychiatric epidemiologist and PhD-trained sociologist who makes major contributions and scientific advances in the epidemiological study of numerous psychiatric conditions and behavioral disturbances, most prominently post-traumatic stress disorder and tobacco dependence.
She also has been an important contributor of epidemiological evidence on long-term effects of low birthweight (e.g., with respect to problem-solving capacities as disclosed by intelligence and other cognitive testing).
She holds multiple NIH research awards, and is actively involved in development of training programs at MSU. .
