Rami Ghannam

Rami Ghannam (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Eng. degree in electronic engineering from King’s College London, London, U.K., the D.I.C. and M.Sc. degrees from Imperial College London, London, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., in 2007. He is an Associate Professor of Engineering Systems Design with the University of Glasgow, Glasgow, U.K. He is also a Cross-Disciplinary Researcher with interests in photonics, sensors, and technology-enhanced learning. He leads the “Engineering Design (End) Research Group,” which conducts research at the intersection of Human Factors Engineering, Empathetic Computing, Photonics, and Sensors. He has held previous industrial positions with Nortel Networks, Maidenhill, U.K. and IBM Research, Zürich, Switzerland. His current research interests are in developing intelligent devices and sensors that enable virtual worlds to exist seamlessly with the real world. Dr. Ghannam is the Regional Chair of IEEE’s Education Society in Scotland, the U.K. Chapter Chair of the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN:UK), and the Chair of the IET Pedagogy in Engineering and Technology TN. He currently serves as IEEE SYSC Distinguished Lecturer. He is a Senior Fellow of RET and a Member of the IET.
