Bio
Robert Borkowski (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in fiber-optic communication from DTU Fotonik – Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark, in 2014. He subsequently held a Postdoctoral position with DTU Fotonik, before joining Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia) Bell Labs, Stuttgart, Germany in 2015, as a Researcher with Fixed Networks Department, working on the next-generation passive optical network (PON) technologies. He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journals, conference papers, and patent applications. His current research interests include 50 Gbit/s, 100 Gbit/s and faster time-division-multiplexed PON. He also participated in several EU-funded projects and contributes to the ITU-T PON standardization process.
