Necrophilous insects are attracted by cadaver odors (volatile organic compounds) which are emitted by microorganisms of the carcass. Changes in the composition of the microbiome due to forest management intensification may alter the production of these cadaver odor bouquets and thus may lead to a modified attraction of the carrion fauna. I study the influence of forest management intensity on microbial communities and changes in the chemical attraction of carrion associated insects.
