Bio
Shane R. Johnson (M'00–SM'06) received the B.Sc. degree (with first class honors) in physics from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada, in 1991 and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, in 1996.
He joined Arizona State University, Tempe, as a probationary track Assistant Research Scientist in 1996 and was awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Research Scientist in 2001 and to Senior Research Scientist in 2007 in the Center for Nanophotonics and the Department of Electrical Engineering, where he currently investigates compound semiconductor materials and devices for energy conversion, sensing, and communication applications. He has published over 70 refereed journal articles and contributed to over 160 conference papers, abstracts, and invited presentations. He is the holder of four issued U.S. patents.
