I'm currently a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I'm very happy to be working with Prof. James Allan at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval. We're working on understanding the nature of controversy in search results, and our work focuses on automatically detecting whether web pages discuss controversial topics. Another project we're working on is trying to look into which stances or opinions exist on a controversial topic. Prof. Allan and I were recently awarded the Google Research Award for our research proposal, "Seeking Controversial Topics and Stances". I spent Summer 2013 as an intern at Google NYC, working with the Local Search Quality team. My time in NYC was incredible! On top of my research responsibilities, I also served as the Google Student Ambassador to UMass Amherst during the 2012-2013 academic school year.
