My researches fall into the broad category of physical and mechanical metallurgy. Primarily, I am interested in the deformation and failure mechanisms of materials under extreme conditions and develops advanced ex-situ and in-situ characterization techniques to probe the physics of the deformation. More importantly, these gathered information is used to guide metallurgical processing and microstructural design of new materials.
