个人简介
I'm an AI researcher with more than 20 years of experience in areas such as machine learning, automated theorem proving, constraint solving, multi-agent systems and evolutionary programming. I'm a founding member of the Computational Creativity subfield of AI, and have engineered many software systems for creative purposes. I'm currently a Professor in Computational Creativity at both Queen Mary University of London, UK and Monash University on Australia. Prevoiusly I held an European Research Area (ERA) Chair in Digital Games Technology at Falmouth University, and was a Professor of Computational Creativity in the Department of Computing of Goldsmiths College, University of London. From 2002 to 2013, I was an academic in the Department of Computing at Imperial College, London. From 2011 to 2017 I held an EPSRC Leadership Fellowship in Computational Creativity Theory.
I co-formed and co-led the MetaMakers Institute at Falmouth and the Computational Creativity Group at Goldsmiths. The MetaMakers Institute comprises a research group and an art collective (@ThoseMetaMakers), and we aim to democratise game design so that anyone and everyone can make video games, enabled and enhanced by various AI technologies. At Goldsmiths, we investigated ways in which AI systems can perform as creative collaborators with people, and can act autonomously creatively, with applications to software engineering, pure mathematics, visual arts, video game design, creative writing and graphic design. We also work on formalisms for assessing creativity in software, and we tackle philosophical and sociological issues that are raised by the notion of software being creative.
