I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University. My main research interests are in the area of Clinical Natural Language Processing (NLP), in particular semantic analysis. Over the last few years I have worked on creating annotated resources and developing NLP tools for e.g. uncertainty detection and temporal expressions in Swedish and English clinical texts. CV Dr. Sumithra Velupillai received a PhD from the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm Universiy, in 2012, and an M.A. from Uppsala University in 2005. She has a background in Computational Linguistics and specializes on research covering both Human Language Technology, Information Access and Health Informatics. She is especially interested in addressing research questions where Human Language Technology and Information Extraction methods are applied within the healthcare sector. Velupillai has participated in several national and international research projects in the area of Clinical Text Mining, has published numerous articles in renowned conferences and journals, and serves as a programme committee member for several international conferences and workshops.
