Dr. Syed Aziz Shah was appointed as an Associate Professor in the Research Centre for Intelligent Healthcare (CIH) at Coventry University (CU) in June 2020. Dr. Aziz is an interdisciplinary researcher focusing on advanced radio frequency (RF) sensor hardware design and machine learning data analysis for non-contact sensing healthcare applications. He is highly motivated to utilize and develop advanced technologies that address the unmet healthcare challenges of unobtrusive monitoring of older adult daily activities for health and safety purposes. Dr. Aziz has published 70 scientific articles (50 in top-tier peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journals including IEEE TAP, IEEE AWPL and IEEE JBHI), given 4 presentations at leading international peer-reviewed conferences (including RADAR Conference France, UCET Conference UK and AECT Conference KSA). He has also served as technical chairperson for leading conferences including UK-China Emerging Technologies, and Science and Information, and received distinguished guest talk invitations from Glasgow Caledonian University (UK), National University of Science and Technology (Pakistan), North West Polytechnical University (China) and Palestine Technical University (Palestine). Dr. Aziz also received the University Research Excellence Award for outstanding research contributions in 2018 from Xidian University (China). Dr. Aziz received the endorsement of ‘Emerging Leader’ indicative of a UK exceptional talent candidate in year 2018. This award was given for pioneering work in the field of RF sensing for remote patient monitoring. This prestigious award is given to early-career, world-leading innovators and scientists from the esteemed Royal Academy of Engineering.
