Bio
Tao Liu received the M. Eng. degrees in mechanical engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2003 and the Doctorate degree in engineering from Kochi University of Technology, Kochi, Japan, in 2006. He has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Intelligent Mechanical Systems Engineering, Kochi University of Technology, Japan, from 2009 to 2013. He is currently a Professor of the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power and Mechatronic Systems, School of Mechanical Engineering, Zhejiang University, China.
Dr Liu is also an inventor of one Japan patent about wearable sensors for gait analysis, which was commercialized. He was a recipient of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Encouragement Prize (2010). In 2013, he was awarded the Chinese Recruitment Program of Global Youth Experts. His current research interests include wearable sensor systems, rehabilitation robots, biomechanics, and human motion analysis.
