Tarique Anwar is a PhD Candidate at Swinburne University of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Chengfei Liu and Prof. Hai Vu from Swinburne, and Prof. Chris Leckie from National ICT Australia (NICTA). He is a member of the Web and Data Engineering (WDE) research group and Intelligent Transport Systems Lab (ITSL) of Swinburne, and Victoria Research Lab (VRL) of NICTA. His PhD is being funded by NICTA to work in the area of spatial databases of road networks and travel trajectories.​ Prior to starting his PhD he worked as a Researcher at Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA), King Saud University, Riyadh, KSA, in the research group of Internet Surveillance and Forensics led by Dr. Muhammad Abulaish. He has completed his Masters in Computer Science and Applications from the Department of Computer Science, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. He has obtained his Bachelor education from the same university as a University Gold Medalist. For his outstanding academic performances during graduation and post-graduation studies, he has been awarded several Merit Scholarships. His research interest spans over the areas of Spatial Databases, Data Analytics, Road Networks, and Information Retrieval.
