个人简介
Dr Thomas Mueller was born in Germany and educated in Germany and the USA. He holds a BSc/MSc and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from German universities. During his PhD research he focussed on the development of materials and processes in the field of high-efficiency heterojunction silicon wafer solar cells. He obtained his PhD degree with highest commendation (‘summa cum laude’) and his PhD thesis won the 2009 SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award. The SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award is awarded only once every year to a young scientist for outstanding scientific work which is industrially relevant and theoretically well-founded in the area of photovoltaics. In February 2010 he joined the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) at the National University of Singapore, as Head of the Silicon Wafer Solar Cell Group. His work at SERIS focuses on advanced high-efficiency silicon wafer solar cell concepts. He led the R&D of numerous public grant and industry projects in the area of crystalline silicon technologies, focussing on advanced high-efficiency silicon wafer solar cell architectures such as all-back-contact and heterojunction cells. He has (co)authored over 50 scientific papers and conference proceedings and holds over 15 patents in the area of silicon wafer solar cells. He has been supervising a number of PhD students. Since April 2013 he is the Director of SERIS’ Silicon Materials and Cells Cluster and the Head of the institute’s Heterojunction Silicon Wafer Solar Cell Group.
Specialties: Advanced high-efficiency silicon solar cells, solar energy, surface passivation, photovoltaic devices.
