个人简介
Tom Nicholas is William J. Abernathy Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He is British and holds a doctorate from Oxford University. Prior to joining HBS, he taught at MIT's Sloan School of Management and at the London School of Economics. His current research focuses on linking historical US patent records to Federal Censuses to examine the life cycle of inventors and their contribution to US economic growth over the long run. He has also writen a book (VC: An American History), which examines the historical roots of the development of the venture capital industry in the United States. At HBS he has taught the first year course, The Entrepreneurial Manager, and currently teaches a second year elective course: The Coming of Managerial Capitalism, which examines entrepreneurship, innovation, finance and business development in the United States over the past 240 years. He has received the Faculty Teaching Award multiple times, including in the Required Curriculum and the Elective Curriculum and the Charles M. Williams Award for teaching excellence. He teaches in a wide range of executive education programs (intellectual property rights, venture capital and private equity, entrepreneurship). He serves on the the Faculty Advisory Council to the Harvard University Library.
