个人简介
He was a leader in studies of epigenetic silencing of death signaling pathways in
cancer, of the role of cyclin dependent kinase family
members in controlling cellular proliferation, and of
the mechanisms of neuroblastoma tumorigenesis.
In addition his research contributed to our understanding of normal and aberrant apoptotic signaling
in human cancer. At the time of his death, Vince
had been studying apoptotic defects in cancer involving the regulation of and alterations in transcription and pre-mRNA splicing, and was developing mouse models to study apoptotic and cell
cycle defects associated with neuroblastoma. Vince believed strongly in translational research and was
pleased that some of the neuroblastoma findings from his laboratory were serving as the scientific
basis for a least one ongoing clinical protocol.
Vince was recognized at a national and international level for his research. His research was
well-funded by numerous grants. His publication list is extensive. He traveled worldwide to give
invited lectures. He authored several book chapters and served as a reviewer for many prestigious
journals. He also gave service to the National Cancer Institute as a scientific reviewer for several
different study sections. He had most recently reviewed for the Cancer Molecular Pathobiology
Study Section (CAMP).
Vince was also an exceptional colleague and mentor. He generously gave his time and resources
to help train many post-doctoral fellows as well as help start junior faculty in launching their research programs.
