个人简介
Prof. Xiankai Sun received his Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from California Institute of Technology in 2010. From 2010 to 2014, he worked in Department of Electrical Engineering at Yale University first as a Postdoctoral Associate and then as an Associate Research Scientist. He is an expert on chip-scale integrated photonic, electronic, and mechanical devices and systems. His contribution to the photonics community includes experimental demonstration of the first Si/InGaAsP hybrid laser and development of integrated nanodevices for optomechanics and nonlinear photonics with record-breaking performance. He led the research of nano-optomechanics into the high-frequency regime by developing wheel, disk, and photonic crystal optomechanical resonators with high quality factors. In 2014, he joined Department of Electronic Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. His current research focuses on photonic and optomechanical nanodevices for new fundamental and practical applications.
Prof. Sun has published 33 peer-reviewed journal papers, 26 conference papers, 3 invited book chapters, and 1 book with a total citation of 853 and the h-index of 17 (Google Scholar). He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the journal Optics Express. He was a session organizer and chair of the conference PIERS 2016 in Shanghai. He was also an invited evaluator for judging the research and professional activities of the Institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Prof. Sun’s graduate work was recognized by numerous professional societies, including the IEEE Photonics Society, the Photonics Society of Chinese-Americans, and SPIE. He was recognized as a finalist of the prestigious Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in 2013 by New York Academy of Sciences for his contribution to “experimental research of nanoscale optomechanical systems.” Prof. Sun also received the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Early Career Award in 2015.
