Professor Wu, advisor for doctoral program， had a Ph.D. in Physics from the Univ. of Georgia, and conducted Postdoctoral Research at Stanford Univ. in USA. He specilized in high power solid-state lasers, fiber optics, fabrication of micro-optic devices. He was awarded over 10 fundings from NSF, and 863 projects in China，and has over 80 publications in world-class journals in optical engineering，with over 60 China patents，4 US patents and 1 world patent. He received 2nd-class 2007 National Sci & Tech. Award in China, and 1st class Award from China Electronics Association in 2006. In addition he authored a monograph on fiber optical sensing for biological systems that was published by Springer in 2016.
