其研究领域为计算机科学与生物医学的交叉学科-生物信息学(Bioinformatics)，研究方向为测序数据质量控制、基因组序列组装、基因组结构变异检测、基因组重复序列检测及其与复杂疾病的关联分析、单细胞多组学、基因编辑、Deep learning等。

目前主持国家自科基金（青年），中央高校基本科研业务费用资助项目，湖南省自科基金（青年），沙特Impact Acceleration Program项目（经费：10万美元），中南大学研究生自主探索创新项目各一项，作为主要成员参与筹建生物信息学湖南省重点实验室(https://bio.csu.edu.cn/info/1011/1130.htm)，并参与完成国家重点研究计划、国家自科基金(重点项目)等课题多项。已发表学术论文20余篇，涵盖了领域内重要期刊Nature Communications，Communications Biology，Genome Research，Nucleic Acids Research，Bioinformatics，IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatic (TCBB) 以及知名国际会议 BIBM，GIW。相关研究成果申请专利4项（国际1项，国内3项，其中两项已经授权）。目前分别为IEEE/ACM/CCF/IEEE Young Professionals成员，并分别担任国家自然科学基金（青年项目）、 湖南省自科基金（青年项目）通讯评审专家，CCF B类国际会议IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM)的Program Committee Member，知名生物信息学杂志Frontier in Genetics和 Current Bioinformatics的Guest editor，以及包括：Bioinformatics，Expert Systems With Applications，IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatic (杰出审稿人)，Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, BMC Bioinformatics, Frontier in Genetics，Frontier in Molecular Biosciences, Current Bioinformatics, Genes, Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Physiological and Molecular Plant Pathology等10多种SCI期刊审稿人。
