Born in Normandie, North-West France, I studied in Le Mans (D.E.U.G. M.P. at Université du Maine) for two years, then in Rennes (Licence and Maîtrise in Computer Science) for two more years. I entered Sup'Telecom (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in Paris) in 1984 and obtained my diploma in 1986. I obtained as well my D.E.A. degree at Rennes University at that time. To complete these diploma, I spent 6 month at the Computer Science Department,Ottawa University (Canada) where I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Stan Matwin and Dr. Douglas Skuce on Natural Language Processing. Finally, I stayed there for two years, working on the Cognos Inc. "Quiz Advisor" project. I was mainly concern in natural language parsing and my work was supervised by Dr. Stan szpackowicz. I was also involved in teaching in the Computer Science Department (2 courses per semester in 2nd and 3rd year). In 1992, I obtained my PhD degree worked at ARAMIIHS Lab for 1 year as a post-doct student. I entered INRIA November 1993 in Nancy and worked on Natural Language Processing in the Langue et Dialogue Team.
