Current Assignment
I collaborate and lead a diverse set of scientists who have backgrounds and interests in developing and applying Machine Learning algorithms for automatically finding patterns in data. New sensor technologies have given us the ability to collect exceedingly more data than we are able to hand analyze. Currently, our team is developing massive-scale Deep Learning algorithms on GPU supercomputers that help us make sense of large amounts of data efficiently and automatically.
Research Interests
My research interests include: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Mining, Speech Recognition, Computer Vision, and Cyber Security. My passion lies in applying Machine Learning approaches to real world problems with National significance - this is why I chose to come to LLNL.
Outside Interests
Playing with my kiddos, playing basketball, bike riding, watching Sci-Fi reruns (e.g., Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and the Marvel universe of shows), and playing video games if there is any time left.
