My primary research interests are in text summarization and conditional text generation. My work includes designing models that balance content and discourse for different genres (eg. news, medical documents, and scientific domain) in extractive summarization and designing systems that ensure the factual consistency in abstractive summarization. I have gained extensive research experience in the academic lab and through industrial internships (Huawei Noah's Ark Lab, Microsoft Redmond, and AI2)with 10 papers (6 as the first author or first co-author) published at top-tier NLP and ML conferences, including ACL, EMNLP, and AAAI. One of my first-author papers has won the best paper award at the Canadian AI conference. I will be a co-organizer for the third NewSum summarization workshop at EMNLP (upon the proposal being approved), in addition to being a reviewer for ACL, EMNLP, IJCAI, and AAAI for the past years.
