Bio
Zahra Abbasi (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in telecommunication engineering and the M.Sc. degree in electronics engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2014 and 2016, respectively. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada.
Her research interests include microwave sensors, radio frequency circuits design, biosensors, microwave oscillators, and wearable and flexible sensors.
Ms. Abbasi has been serving as the Women in Engineering Officer for the award-winning IEEE Northern Canada Section Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S)/MTT-S Joint Chapter since 2018. She was nominated for the Best Student Paper in the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2018 conference. She was a recipient of the Graduate Student Research Assistance Award from the University of Alberta in 2019. She was also a recipient of the 2020 Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship and the 2020 Marta Piper Award for her outstanding research work.
