Artificial Life and Biomechanical Simulation of Humans

I review our recent work on human simulation, specif- ically: (1) an artificial life framework that addresses the problem of emulating the rich complexity of human ap- pearance and activity in urban environments, resulting in autonomous pedestrian models, and (2) a comprehen- sive biomechanical model of the human body that con- fronts the combined challenge of modeling and control- ling more or less all of the relevant articular bones and muscles, as well as simulating the physics-based defor- mations of the soft tissues.
