Ocean-floor affinity of basalts from north Apennine ophiolites: Geochemical evidence

Elements resistent to alteration and metamorphism (Ti, Zr, Y, La, Nb, Ce, Cr, Ni, V) from metabasalts samples belonging to the north Apennine ophiolites have been determined in order to investigate the primary tectonic environment of these rocks. The results clearly indicate an ocean-floor affinity for the Apennine metabasalts.
