SIADH: kliniek, diagnose en behandeling bij kinderen
Tijdschrift Voor Kindergeneeskunde(2011)
摘要
Summary Hyponatraemia is a common electrolyte disorder in hospitalized children. One of the causes is the syndrome of inappropriate
antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). This syndrome can be caused by a variety of diseases. We describe a case of a 5,5-year-old
boy with fever and general discomfort caused by an incomplete form of Kawasaki disease which was accompanied by hyponatraemia.
The clinical symptoms of SIADH are not specific and timely recognition is of great importance. This is because neurological
symptoms, such as convulsions, can occur in higher sodium concentrations in children. The physician should be alert of the
diagnostic criteria and the different treatment options. Fluid restriction plays an important role in the treatment of SIADH
and is usually sufficient.
