BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Facet joint (FJ) plays important roles in load transmission across the spine and kinematics of the motion segment. Orientation of the FJ has been considered as one of the determining factors of these biomechanical functions. Relationship between the FJ orientation and low back pain (LBP) and changes in FJ orientation with age have been are not clearly understood.
