This note supplements the paper by Badilescu et al. (1989) [Photochem. Photobiol. 49, 313-318]. Low temperature solution spectra of 1 : 2 and 2 : 1 mixtures of trans-retinylidene-tertbutylamine and propanoic acid are presented. The results show that the degree of protonation is both temperature and concentration dependent.
