Orientation dependent desorption in crystal growth from the vapour

The orientation dependent α-factor introduced by Jackson has been used to derive an orientation dependent desorption energy. The consequences for surface processes in crystal growth are analyzed with reference to the growth of silicon from the vapour phase.
